It doesn’t matter what Maxx Crosby has already accomplished; all that matters is there’s more to accomplish. At least, that’s the mindset that the two-time All-Pro Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher brings to work everyday.
For Crosby, “More is required” isn’t just three words – it’s a state of mind. There’s always more to give, there’s always more to do, and there’s always more to accomplish. That’s what it takes to be one of the greatest of all time in the National Football League, and Crosby is well aware of that fact.
Gerald McCoy, a former teammate of ‘Mad Maxx’, has first-hand experience around Crosby’s motor. When Crosby earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2021, McCoy, Crosby’s teammate at the time, went out of his way to give Crosby some love of his own on Twitter/X.
“THIS GUY!! Y’all have no idea what he’s been through and the grind he has!! People say no days off………… THIS GUY LIVES IT!! Proud of my brother man!! Can’t think of a more deserving person!! Congrats brotha!! Blessings to many more!! Just the beginning!!”
McCoy even featured Crosby in a segment on NFL Network last season, explaining the greatness of his former teammate.
But those are McCoy’s words – not Crosby’s. On Wednesday, McCoy wanted Crosby to speak for himself in regards to his motor and how he stays motivated.
“What does ‘more’ mean for Maxx Crosby,” McCoy asked the Raiders edge rusher. “What is driving you to always ‘more’?”
Crosby’s initial response before expanding further was simple: “For me, it just means that I know I’m not at my best yet.”

Through five seasons in the NFL, Maxx Crosby has accumulated 52 sacks en route to three Pro Bowls and two second-team All-Pros. This summer, his peers crowned him a top-10 player at any position in the National Football League.
As nice as these accolades are, Crosby knows there’s still room for him to grow.
“That’s what pushes me every day,” Crosby added to his statement about knowing he’s not at his best yet. “My goal is not to have a short little run and be a really good player for a little amount of time; I want to be iconic in this game. I want to be someone that they look back at and say that’s how the position was played.”
I have a ton of work to do. Like you said, I made a couple second-team All-Pros and made a couple things like that, but that’s not first-team. That’s not defensive player of the year. I haven’t done that yet, and I haven’t won much.”
Although it’s been no fault of Crosby, the Raiders have indeed not much since drafting the Eastern Michigan alum. The Silver and Black have a record of 39-44 since the 2019 NFL Draft, finishing a season with a winning record just one time.
“For me, I want to win – that’s number one most important, and number two, give my team the best chance to win. I have to be the best version of myself.”
That’s why I’m always saying ‘more is required’.”
The Las Vegas Raiders continue getting ready for their 2024 campaign and no one is more ready for action than Maxx Crosby, who’s been a game-wrecker throughout training camp, much to nobody’s surprise.
Next up on Sin City’s checklist is preseason, and the first game is this Saturday against the Vikings in Minnesota.
